Far West Repeater Association

Tips & Tricks

Sometimes moving a few inches can improve signal.

Downtown Eureka - try Horse 147.00.

Downtown Ferndale - try Horse 147.00 or Humboldt Hill 146.70.

Humboldt Hill 146.70 transmits a tone of 67 Hz. This may be useful in eliminating open squelch noise found while driving through some areas. Program in a receive tone of 67 Hz on the Humbold Hill 146.70 channel.

Waiting for the courtesy tone(s) does not reset all the timers on all the repeaters. When two different repeaters are being used, there will be multiple courtesy tones and multiple squelch tails. Please let the all the squelch tails drop and wait at least a second before transmitting. This should reset all the timers.
